EMR team out in force to support the Grant Thornton Corporate 5K Team Challenge
A team of 15 runners from EMR took part in this year’s Grant Thornton Corporate 5K Team Challenge (GT5K). Joining more than 1,200 teams from 139 different companies, the team successfully tackled a 5K course around a one-lap circuit at Dublin’s Docklands.
Ciaran Quinn finished the best of the EMR team, completing the circuit in a fantastic time of 17 mins 10 secs, notching up a very commendable 64th place finish overall.
Age trumped youth for second place with Alan Feenan turning in a strong performance with a time of 20 mins 32 secs, just edging out Terry McAuley who finished in 20 mins 38 secs.
The ladies from EMR also made their mark on the night with Deirdre Shanley clocking up a strong time of 24 mins 50 secs.
Commenting on the event, Mark Quinn, managing director with EMR said:
“We were delighted with the response we had from our staff in fielding four teams for the event. Running is a great social activity and events such as this foster a great sense of camaraderie amongst staff.”
The Grant Thornton Corporate Challenge, run in association with Athletics Ireland, is aimed at encouraging social running amongst the business community in Dublin and Cork. Proceeds from the race are channelled into Athletics Ireland’s Junior High Performance programme and 10% of each entry fee was donated to the ISPCC Childline Services.
